1-Sinus tarsi is the distance like a groove between talus and calcaneus.
Seen on the lateral aspect of the foot in sagital plane between talus and calcaneum. |
2-It contains two ligaments and fat.
Cervical ligament is the black line running horizontally toward apex of talus. |
3-These two ligaments, one of them is long(cervical ligament) while the other is short(inter osseus ligament), and they are not seen at the same section.
4-It is only assessed in sagital plane.
T1 shows lake of fluid in the site of the sinus(Asterisk) |
T2 shows lake of fluid in the site of the sinus. |
Sinus tarsi syndrome could be due to presence of a ganglion.
Coronal view shows a ganglion in T2 image. |
